The Treasures of the Isle

The Treasures of the Isle is a project developed by Aurélien Kittel, Sofiane Meftah and Manassé Ratovo as part of the Île-de-France student ambassadors Trophy. All three of us are students at the EPITA computer engineering school and spent a semester abroad in 2023. Our international experience in 2023 was a crucial step in our project. Aurélien Kittel explored Riga, in 🇱🇻 Latvia, for 5 months, while Sofiane Meftah immersed himself in the vibrant culture of Sligo, in 🇮🇪 Ireland, for 4 and a half months. Similarly, Manassé Ratovo enjoyed a rewarding adventure in Limerick, in 🇮🇪 Ireland, for almost 4 months. These diverse experiences have enriched our perspective and creativity, and it's this energy that we try to instill in The Treasures of the Isle. Our goal? To create a captivating application, specially designed for adventurers like you, so that you can discover the Ile-de-France in the same way that foreign students have allowed us to visit the nuggets of their countries.

Where did the idea for The Treasures of the Isle project come from?

Our project is based on the idea that every corner of the Île-de-France region is teeming with little-known wonders just waiting to be discovered. Our aim is to create an off-the-beaten-track exploration that will create unforgettable memories.

How does The Treasures of the Isle work?

Imagine a virtual treasure map, only much more elaborate! For each location, detailed descriptions, captivating images and essential location information are provided to help you. No need to search through a myriad of options: sort the locations according to your preferences.

Is the application available on the App Store?

Unfortunately, The Treasures of the Isle is not available on the App Store. The first reason is that the Apple developer license is quite expensive, and our budget doesn't allow us to acquire one. The second reason is that to ensure quality and user experience, tests are required on physical Apple devices, which we don't have.

What personal data is collected?

The Treasures of the Isle may use your location with your consent to locate you on the interactive map and to display nearby locations. However, it is never stored on our server. The application requires internet access in order to provide the latest information about the locations.

What kind of treasures (locations) can I find with this application?

The application provides an interactive map featuring locations in the Paris region, accompanied by photos and descriptions. These places are grouped into three categories: unusual places, which are not on the usual tourist routes, but offer a unique and unforgettable experience; photogenic places, which are perfect for taking great photos to share; tourist places, which are must-sees for any visitor to the Île-de-France region.
